Check out our entire guide on things to see and do in Fort Myers Beach so that you don’t miss a thing!
Visit Mound House Museum
Estero Island's oldest standing structure — the William H. Case House — was recently restored with all of its original furnishings and finishes from 1921, known now as the Mound House Museum. The house features exhibits featuring Calusa artifacts and interactive displays.
In the Mound House Museum, you'll learn how the Calusa people lived here and how they — and a large number of foreign settlers — made Estero Island what it is today.
Go Shelling at Lovers Key State Park
Enjoy two miles of pristine beach at Lovers Key State Park. On the southernmost corner of Fort Myers Beach, this slice of paradise is a great place to sunbathe on a lazy day or to watch the sun go down! This is also one of the best places to go shelling.
Be sure to read these tips to preserve these precious marine resources before taking any of them with you:
- Do not remove any live shells
- If an animal is in the shell, it is a live shell — put it back in the water!
- If a sand dollar is any color BUT white, it is still alive! If it is white, it may be collected
- Do not remove any starfish or sea urchins! They are not shells — they are animals
Sunbathe at Bonita Beach
Just a 16-minute drive from The Neptune Resort lies Bonita Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in southwest Florida. Spend the day relaxing in the white sand and strolling the boardwalk.
Eat at Little Palm
Little Palm is one of our favorite vegan-friendly venues in Fort Myers Beach. This venue has all the makings of a great restaurant, from affordable prices to delicious menu items. The restaurant is renowned for its smoothie bowls, with tasty finds like their OG Acai or Nutty Nirvana. Be sure to browse their extensive menu, which includes sandwiches, waffles, salads, and more.
Walk Along Black Island Trail
Black Island Trail is located in the beautiful Lovers Key State Park. Florida's foliage is abundant along the walkway, and you may even run into wild coffee! The five-mile trail is divided into two loops, which criss-cross throughout the center of the park if you don't want to walk the whole length of the trail. While it is safe, there are signs that warn visitors of possible alligator sightings!
Go Kayaking
An afternoon kayaking in Fort Myers Beach is one of the best ways to experience some of the country's most biodiverse landscapes! Paddle through mangrove forests or along beautiful beaches and get a taste of nature's splendor. Make sure you look out for dolphins, turtles, manatees, and other wildlife native to this unique area!
Visit the Sanibel Lighthouse
One of the first lighthouses on the Gulf Coast is the famous Sanibel Lighthouse. It was built in 1884 and remains one of the most frequented architectural landmarks in the area. The lighthouse is situated within Lighthouse Beach Park, which is also home to the Sanibel Pier. This popular destination brings in both tourists and locals alike to go shelling, hang by the beach, and watch the sunset. You may even spot dolphins swimming along the coast!
See the Pristine White Sand at Bowman’s Beach
Bowman's Beach is one of Florida's most memorable and stunning beaches. It is a popular spot for swimming and sunbathing. The calm, blue-water and white-sand beach is an easy draw for visitors, but the walkable trails and playground adjacent the beach make it such a popular destination. Search for shells or relax at one of our favorite stretches of sand!
Chow Down at the Best Restaurants in Fort Myers Beach
From neighborhood burger and beer joints to seafood restaurants and more, Fort Myers Beach has plenty for visitors to chow down on. We love the waterfront views at Doc Ford's Rum Bar & Grille, the seafood at Fresh Catch Bistro, and the cocktails at Shucker's, one of the best spots in the area to watch the sunset.
